Consistent Change
My Team: “Why is change always happening?”
Me: “If it’s always happening, is it really change?”
We often talk about change like a temporary disruption: a new system rollout, an executive shift, or a team reorganization. We brace ourselves, wait for the dust to settle, and hope to get back to business as usual.
Here is what I see with the leaders I coach:
Change is the environment we lead in every day.
When we wait for things to calm down before we lead effectively, we end up waiting indefinitely.
That realization shifts how a leader shows up.
Instead of asking “How do we get back to normal?”, the better question is:
“What does this moment require from us?”
Effective leaders help their people find solid ground. They create clarity when things are unclear, stability when people feel uncertain, and confidence when the next step is hard to see.
At Guiding Flame Academy, that is where many of our coaching conversations begin. We help leaders step back, uncover their blind spots, and build the intentional habits their teams depend on during uncertain seasons.
Because learning to lead through constant motion is the real job.
When unexpected change hits your team, what is the first question you ask yourself as a leader?
