Failure Company
Updated: Aug 20
I have dealt with failure a lot recently. Turns out, I'm in good company.
During a recent virtual session, my screen share went completely sideways. Mid-presentation, in front of a full audience, I faced a very public failure born from my own preparation and actions.
Likewise, our newly adopted kitten, Bobby, is facing his failures. He's been miscalculating his leaps, tumbling from the bed, falling off the cat tower, and even getting stuck inside the bedframe. Every time he shakes it off and zooms off to the next failure without a second thought.
He is simply learning from his failure. He is growing into his new world by bumping into them.
Our emotional responses to discomfort are shaped by how often we encounter failure. True growth in leadership doesn’t come from avoiding the friction that accompanies failure; rather, when we embrace every uncomfortable moment as a chance to develop.
If you feel you are struggling, you might just be stretching into the version of you that is waiting to lead.
